I'm home. I'm wrecked. I'm 5 hours behind everyone else but I'm also very happy.
I had a fantastic week in New York, from ice skating in Bryant Park to laughing at that guy in the restaurant who loudly exclaimed "I'm only the fucking sperm donor man"; we did it all. Squashing five friends into two beds proved tricky at times but the fantastic spoonage was totes worth it. In reality our enthusiasm and gusto were quite contagious. Apparently people don't dance in New York (I mean WTF?!) but with the help of some vino we started some jazz/swing dancing and got most of the bar up on their feet. It was kind of amazing. J and LJ dancing together also sparked a lesbian movement we hadn't quite anticipated, but enjoyed nonetheless.
I also have to mention this most amazing restaurant. As E put it "Parents should take their children here so that all children will love to eat their vegetables." It was so divine and most definitely one of the culinary highlights of my life. You should try the almond-coated trout. *salivates*
I would tell you all more, but there are simply too many stories. No doubt many of them will resurface in future posts. For now I'm just going to upload all of my photos onto Facebook. That way people can jealously leave comments on my page telling me how cool I already know I am. Thanks.

Getting old..
I know I'm only 23 years old but there are some times when you just start to feel the aging process kick in. And it's not a personal aging process I'm experiencing, it's a collective thing. What really brought this home is the fact that one of my close friends, O, has just moved to New Zealand for the next 2 years to work as a physio. It was pretty horrible saying goodbye to her last Friday when we all went out for dinner and drinks...eurgh.
Of my school friends, there are only 2 of us left in college as undergrads (both doing 5 year courses) and everyone else seems to be moving on. My friend F has just started his PhD, loads of friends have moved off to Dublin/London, out of home in Cork and everyone's starting to think of what they'll spend the rest of their lives doing. Pretty depressing really. I mean my friends have real jobs now.
The thing is, as my friend Tomato said at the farewell dinner, in a very unusually astute manner for him ;-), "Long distances don't affect long friendships" and I really hope that's true. Why couldn't I have said something like this when I was thrown forward to make the goodbye speech!! DISASTA!!!
So O have an amazing time over in NZ and although there's a good chance I'll be moving to Australasia for work just when you are about to come home, let's do lunch yeah?
Thank GOD for skype!

Oh do blog some more!
You've got to love this girl. I'm trying to convince her to come back to the blogosphere. I get along fantastically well with her in college (we were partners for most of last year) and she's responsible for the odd collection of Malaysian phrases I come out with every now and again, terima kasih Ezlyn!
Whenever you read her posts, just think of a petite Malaysian girl recounting her story with this huge, beautiful smile, so polite she just can't say a mean thing about anyone and so excitable when it comes to shopping. Oh and did I mention she's just fantastic for a good gossip, gasps in all the right places.
Here she recounts the rush of shopping addiction, hilarious.
"However, sometimes (if you have zero will power like me), you're caught in that moment of.. euphoria when you are overwhelmed with the amazing choices of clothes on your laptop screen and like a brainless programmed robot, you click the PURCHASE button instantaneously. In the aftermath of the shopping frenzy, you slowly come to your senses and fall into a deep dark chasm called regret. "

Friends

Ross and Chandler arguing over who would win in a fight.
Chandler: Prove it so!
Ross: Oh I'll prove it, I'll prove it like a theorem!
Classic.

It's all or nothing
M's reaction on telling her about my involvement in the gay civil rights movement.
"God Piney, you really do do everything 100%"
Love this girl.

Screw Social Borders
I went clubbing with several people last night, none of whom I actually knew...and they were all lovely! (overused word, I know!) Essentially it was a big meet up and I knew friends of friends going so I was invited to come along and I'm even meeting them again later this evening!
I am determined to break down as many social borders as possible from now on...ok I've been doing this for a while now but I'm consciously making a greater effort now. I like the way my college course is in some ways my niche, but I'm determined it won't become my clique...
I'm sure that anyone who doesn't know me probably thinks I'm some freak but some day, I'd love to have the confidence to go clubbing on my own. To be so completely self assured (not cocky) that I'll be able to chat to just about anyone (in a non sleazy way) is quite admirable in my opinion. When I was in London with LJ, we bumped into this really nice guy from North Carolina. It was his last night there so he wanted to make use of it so off he went clubbing on his own, we bumped into him and he joined us for the remainder of the night.
What a cool guy.

because I HATE academic, social and cultural stagnancy.

Opposites Attract
When myself and my very good friend S compare feet and hands, you'd actually think we were different species. Saying that her nickname is "The Hobbit" and I am 6'5 3/4.*
*Some people ask me why I don't just round up to 6'6 but then I'd be halfway to 7'0 and that's just plain freaky.
PS Please excuse the dirty feet, we were wearing sandals at a festival!
PPS Please don't steal this photo if you've got a foot f*t*sh. I'm not even going to write out that full word as then people googling it will merely find this blog easier. Don't even try imagining in your dreams what I look like, I'll tell you straight out. I'm REALLY, REALLY
UGLY!
