The Civil Partnership bill for same-sex couples was also passed in the Irish parliament today. Although the religious right wingers spoke out about how disgraceful it was, there really wasn't that much of a fuss. Saying that, I was never in favour of the bill as it totally enshrines our second class nature into law. It completely ignores children's right (not a mention of them!) and refuses to even refer to couples as families in the bill. There's a long list of the differences between marriage and CP, it's just ridiculous. Some people think it's a "stepping stone" I'm a bit more cynical...
