Yes I'm procrastinating. And yes of course, I've got an exam tomorrow, it's my greatest motivation for such time wasting. The thing is today was pretty exciting for me. Despite the fact that I'm absolutely wrecked form the last 4 weeks I've spent in General Practise, I'm on a bit of a high! Because today I discovered a dysrhythmia (abnormal rhythm) on a patient that no one had seen before.OK so it turned out that this abnormal rhythm was completely benign (premature atrial complexes) but it was pretty cool to be the first person to notice that this 87 year old man's heart beat was a bit off. Actually scrap that, AMAZINGLY COOL!! I then got to check out his ECG tracing and diagnose the condition (atrial fibrillation was the big concern but he had p waves so that wasn't the case, PHEW!!!)
I really can't wait for this year to just be over with now so that I can graduate (hopefully) and get on the wards properly. Speaking of, I should really get back to the study with that exam tomorrow as I'm going to be out ALL weekend for the Cork Jazz festival (WOOO) so ciao for now!
